What is the Kia Rear Door Occupant Alert?
Each year, Kia continues to innovate within their newest vehicles thanks to new features and technologies. Recently, the manufacturer introduced their new Rear Door Occupant Alert system, which adds to the amount of the convenient technologies in the newest Kia models. So, what is the Kia Rear Door Occupant Alert?
The new Rear Occupant Alert system is a feature that uses three different alerts to help drivers prevent rear passengers such as young children being left behind in the car. This is extremely important in cases such as hot days, as cars can quickly heat up on the inside resulting in potential danger for young children and animals. This system uses ultrasonic sensors to detect passengers in the rear rows which alerts drivers.
When will the Kia Rear Door Occupant Alert be Available?
As of right now, the new Rear Door Occupant Alert is standard on all new Kia Telluride models. However, Kia and members of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and the Association of Global Automakers have made a commitment to making this new feature available in most Kia vehicles by the year 2025.
“Kia Motors America is proud of its commitment to safety and fully supports the application of all available technology to preserve human life. The deaths of children left in hot cars, of which there have been 41 this year and 891 between 1990 and 20183 are particularly heartbreaking. The Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) system that is standard on all Kia Telluride models is designed to help prevent future tragedies.”
